We speak with Elizabeth Harris about her new novel Mayhem: Three Lives of a Woman. She is also the author of the story collection The Ant Generator, which won the John Simmons Prize. Her stories have been published in many magazines, and she taught fiction writing and modern literature at the University of Texas in Austin.
We then speak with Susan Thurston about her debut novel Sister of Grendel, which re-imagines the Beowulf story and posits that Grendel and his sister Rehsotis were not monsters at all but Anathians who were possessed of refined language and intelligence, great physical strength and longevity.
