We speak with Minnesota author and teacher Cullen Bailey Burns about her new book Slip. She is also the author of Paper Boat, which was a finalist for a Minnesota Book Award in poetry.

We also talk with Nicole Helget, another Minnesota author, about her new novel Stillwater, which details the lives of abandoned twins in Stillwater's early years. She is also the author of The Turtle Catcher, about life in a rural Minnesota town before, during and after WWI.

3/18/2104 Robert Morgan & Brian Freeman

We speak with Robert Morgan about his new novel The Road from Gap Creek, the follow up to his bestseller Gap Creek. He is a poet and biographer as well as a novelist and is a recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, fellowships from the Guggenheim and Rockefeller foundations and an American Academy of Arts and Letters award.

We also talk with Brian Freeman about his new novel The Cold Nowhere. Among his many novels are Immoral, which won the Macavity Award for Best First Novel and was nominated for the Anthony and Edgar Awards, Spilled Blood and The Bone House.

3/11/2014 Morgan Grayce & John P. Davidson

We speak with Morgan Grayce Willow about her new poetry collection Dodge and Scramble. She is the author of many books, including Silk: Meditations on T'ai-Chi Ch'uan, Between, and The Maps are Words - and she has won a Loft-McKnight Award for poetry and Minnesota State Arts Board fellowships in both poetry and prose.

We also talk with John P. Davidson about his new novel The Obedient Assassin. He is also the author of The Long Road North, and he has written for Rolling Stone, GQ, Fortune and Harper's Magazine, among other publications. He also received a National Endowment for the Arts grant.

We speak with Chang-Rae Lee about his new novel On Such A Full Sea. He is the author of Native Speaker, which won the Hemingway/PEN Award for first fiction, A Gesture Life, Aloft, and The Surrendered, which won the Dayton Peace Prize and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize.

We also talk with Kate Pettit and Connie Anderson about the 11th Annual Bloomington Writers Festival and Book Fair, which will feature Minnesota illustrator and author Nancy Carlson as the Keynote Speaker.

We speak with Jennifer Percy about her new book Demon Camp: A Soldier's Exorcism. She is a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where she received a Truman Capote Fellowship in fiction. She also won a Pushcart Prize and a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

We also talk with Sarah Pinborough about her new historical novel Mayhem, about the torso killer who operated in London at the same time as Jack the Ripper. She has written many horror novels and thrillers and has won numerous awards, including the British Fantasy Award, Best Short Story Award and Best Novella.
