We also chat with Philip Kerr about The Lady from Zagreb, the newest entry in his bestselling Bernie Gunther series. He has written 9 other Bernie Gunther novels and his most recent Field Gray was a finalist for the Edgar Award. He also writes the much-loved YA series Children of the Lamp.

We speak with Margi Preus about her new YA novel Enchantment Lake. She is the New York Times bestselling author of books for young readers, including Shadow on the Mountain, West of the Moon (which just won a Minnesota Book Award) and Heart of a Samurai, which won a Newbery Honor and the Asian/Pacific American Award for Children's Literature.

We also chat with Rene Denfeld about her debut novel The Enchanted, which was nominated for the Flaherty-Dunnan fiction prize and which describes the people who visit and live on death row from the point of view of a mute prisoner in a way that is both heartbreaking and uplifting. Rene Denfeld is also the author of the nonfiction books The New Victorians, Kill the Body, The Head Will Fall and All God's Children

We speak with Lin Enger about his novel The High Divide, now out in paperback. He teaches at Minnesota State - Moorhead and is also the author of Undiscovered Country as well as the recipient of a James Michener Award and a Minnesota State Arts Board Fellowship.

We also chat with Madelon Sprengnether about her new memoir Great River Road. She is a professor at the University of Minnesota and is the author of two prior memoirs, Rivers, Stories, Houses, Dreams, and Crying at the Movies; as well as two previous collections of poetry, The Normal Heart and The Angel of Duluth.
