We also speak with Alex Kava about her new novel Breaking Creed. She is the author of the bestselling Maggie O'Dell series and won the 2013 Florida Book Award and the 2014 Nebraska Book Award for her most recent effort in that series, Stranded.

We also speak with Minnesota author Peter Pearson about his debut picture book How to Eat an Airplane, illustrated by Mircea Catusanu. He earned his MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from Hamline University and has received awards and grants from the Loft Literary Center and the Minnesota State Arts Board, among others.

We speak with Sean Carroll about his new book The Big Picture: On the Origins of Life, Meaning, and the Universe Itself. He is a theoretical physicist at the California Institute of Technology and is also the author of From Eternity to Here and The Particle at the End of the Universe. In 2015, he was awarded a Guggenheim Fellowship.

We also speak with Minnesota poet Gretchen Marquette about her new collection May Day, out from Graywolf Press. Her poetry has appeared in Harper's, the Paris Review and Tin House.
