We speak with Alison Hawthorne Deming about her new book Zoologies: On Animals and the Human Spirit. She is the author of four collections of poetry and four works of nonfiction. Science and Other Poems was selected for the Walt Whitman Award and The Edges of the Civilized World was a finalist for the PEN Center West Award.

We also talk with Brad Zellar about his new novel House of Coates, with photography by Alec Soth. Brad Zellar is the author of Suburban World: The Norling Photos, The 1968 Project and Conductors of the Moving World. Alec Soth has published over a dozen books, including Sleeping by the Mississippi, Niagara and The Last Days of W.

We speak with Diane Ackerman about her new book The Human Age: The World Shaped by Us. She is the bestselling author of The Zookeeper's Wife and A Natural History of the Senses, among many other books, and she has been a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Nonfiction.

We also talk with Minnesota author Norman Draper about his debut novel Backyard, which satirizes suburbia. He spent 35 years as a newspaper reporter in Minneapolis, Colorado and Mississippi. He is currently at work on the follow-up to Backyard.
